As human beings we can become separated from one-another by divisions. Many such divisions have been created for various objectives. Political, religious, ethnic, and sexual division falls into this category. We can also become isolated from one-another without being drawn into any organized or categorical division.

Mostly, isolation is self-imposed in response to certain axioms or beliefs, or assumptions about oneself or the world. Isolation, too, is often generated for political objectives, but mostly we encounter it as voluntary self-isolation that is pursued contrary to our most deeply seated interests and wishes. Sexual self-isolation goes especially deep, so much so that we tend to devote our life to it in the name of civility and honor. But this only scratches the surface.

Self-isolation has become a way of life in modern days, on a wide front, all the way to the point that life-threatening developments become brushed aside when they don't pertain directly to oneself in the immediate context. People can become so self-isolated from the reality of their world that myths and insanity begin to rule their motives and actions. We find examples of this type of self-isolation in the financial world where countless people firmly believe that profits can be created by non-productive processes, such as clever forms of stealing from one-another. The same self-isolation from the real world can also be found in the political and environmental sphere where people cling tenaciously to lies that were dished out to them as the truth, even when the reality stares them bluntly in the face.

One can further recognize deeply ingrained forms of self-isolation in the realm of religion. While religions are intended to bring people closer to their God, the guardians of the religions have establish themselves as an intermediary who dictates what is to be understood as truth, and what a people's relationship to their God, or truth, must be. Of course, this happens not only in religion, but also in the sciences, especially the environmental and biological sciences, as well as in the economic and political sciences.

In modern days, this intermediary role of a dictator who defines truth for people, sometimes called the elite, is being assumed by a certain class of corruptible scientists that are paraded by their masters as the world-scientific authority in their field. Their role as an intermediary is to establish lies as the truth, whereby to isolate the public from the truth in order to fulfill their master's political objectives. This type of isolation is extremely far advanced.

All in all, the isolation of people from one-another, or from the truth, or both, is deeply integrated into the fabric of modern living. Often the integration is so deep that the isolation is completely unrecognized. Many attempts have been made to address some of the terrible things that result from the lies, but this attempt has always occurred within narrowly focused isolation. The question needs to be asked: Can these issues really be addressed that way?

In meeting the challenge, it becomes imperative that we look deeper, with open eyes, and that we explore with an open mind, the roots of our self-isolation. The novel presented here does this in metaphor by looking at our social arena where the isolation is especially strong, and where an exploration may raise some eyebrows, but has the potential to be universally applicable. After all, the challenge of surviving in a nuclear-armed world is ultimately not a technological issue, but a social issue of human beings relating to one-another in an unintelligent fashion. For as long as this challenge remains unaddressed, we are in danger of affecting our self-annihilation in response to the countless divisions that we accept and cling to, including all the forms of self-isolation that we commit ourselves to.

Nevertheless, the novel is a social science fiction by intend, as it explores historically discovered principles in a futuristic dimension that is far from an established reality in today's world. The novel is a not intended do serve as a model since the foundation has not been established for this to be possible. Instead, the novel is designed as a platform for the exploration of these principles, which may inspire solutions for the problems of our modern world.
